Hi. I'm Karen Woods

I'm a busy woman who has diverse interests and activities.

I hold a Master's degree in Mathematical Systems (that's what the University called an interdisciplinary degree in Computer Science and Math).

Although I have taught at both the undergraduate and post secondary levels, I am currently at home- educating my own children.

Additionally, I am a postulant Franciscan tertiary, a third order (secular) Franciscan, in The Franciscan Order of the Divine Compassion, which means that I am pursuing a vocation of service and prayer in the world for the greater glory of God.
When I take my vows at the end of the postulancy period, I will be promising God to live a life of purity, simplicity, and fidelity. My rule of life requires recitation of the Daily Offices, regular reception and adoration of Jesus Christ within the Holy Eucharist, personal prayer, meditation, simplicity of life, and work for the glory of God.
When St. Francis formed the third order, he called us to live lives of reparation, of penitence. Indeed, St. Francis own name for the third order was the Brothers and Sisters of Penance.

I am also by turns :

• editor of the parish newsletter
• member of Altar Guild
• founder and co-ordinator for our local natural foods co-op
• Girl Scout Leader,
• volunteer for (founding board member of) Jubilee Habitat for Humanity
,
• health and safety instructor for the Red Cross
• soon to be published author. I've a science fiction/suspense/romance novel coming out in late 1998(hopefully) from LionHearted Publishing, Inc. The title is Lara's Legacy.
• occasionally, computer consultant and designer of webpages
• maker of rosaries which I give to missionaries to spread devotion to Jesus, through Mary
• now and again, math or computer science tutor for college kids

Between these things, you can see that I keep busy.
