For the week of February 10, 2001

REAL FRIENDS...

Will help you pack boxes and move. Will let you have the last piece of pizza. Will give you a book, not loan it to you. Will tell you when you have something green in your teeth. Will laugh at your dumb jokes. Will let you have the center of their cinnamon roll. Will give you a mint when you have bad breath. Will put gas in your car with they borrow it. Will not sweat the small stuff. Will not criticize your kids when you’re not around

THIS MORNING Pastor Jack’s will give us some encouragement as we look to the future with a message titled, “The Best Is Yet To Come”.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP will meet tonight at 7:00 p.m. and continue our study of Hudson Taylor, a famous missionary to China. Also on the 17th we will leave here at 10:00 a.m. for the mall, go ice skating at 2:30 p.m. and take in a hockey game at 7:00 p.m. The approximate cost will be $15.00. Plan to join us!

NEXT SUNDAY will be our annual meeting (required by our Articles of Incorporation). It will be held right after the morning service. The only item of official business to be conducted at this brief meeting will be the election of members to the Board of Directors for 2001.

IT’S STILL NOT TOO LATE to be a part of our Guatemala Team as plans are falling into place for four of our men to go later this month. Chad Thomas, Jerry Wade and Matt Zimmer will join Pastor Jack, leaving on the 22nd for Zacapa, Guatemala. The team will be an all purpose team (construction, mercy and evangelism) with some medical personnel also going to provide special care for people in the mountains. Pray for our men (and their families) as they gather their financial support (outside the church) and prepare for this exciting opportunity to serve the Lord on a cross cultural, short term team.

WHAT CAN YOU SPECIFICALLY DO TO SUPPORT OUR TEAM? Check the foyer table today, take a card and bring in that item next Sunday for our team to take, or use themselves. Let’s be a blessing to the men of our church that God has called to represent us from Feb. 22-March 3!

MERRY MONDAY There will be no Merry Monday this month due to a variety of circumstances. The board for Merry Monday is in a time of prayer asking the Lord to show us if this is to continue or whether this was a season for this past year. If you have any input, or the Lord speaks to you please see Debbie Brune, Anita Montgomery, Stacy Thomas, Lori Tucker, or Elizabeth Zimmer. We are also in prayer as to whether the Lord may be raising up something new for women. Again, your prayers and input is welcomed and appreciated!

THANK YOUS have been received from both the Crisis Center Foundation and the Crisis Pregnancy Center for the financial gifts of $250.00 that were recently sent to both agencies.

VALENTINES DAY! Although this is a secular holiday, maybe this is the very opportunity the Lord is giving you to touch the heart of someone with a special card, some candy, or just a little surprise. The focus of the day seems to be heart related...can we not use the heart the Lord created in us to touch the heart of someone that might be lonely, a neighbor, a friend, or maybe just that special someone in your life. We must never miss an opportunity to reach someone for the Lord, even in the simplest of ways!
